Brockport, N.Y. -- The baseball team extended its winning streak to eight games by defeating twentieth-ranked Brockport in a doubleheader, 5-0 and 2-1. The Bombers improve to 20-8, while Brockport, who is ranked second in the NCAA New York Regional Poll, drop to 23-14. Junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) paced the team by going 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored.
Junior third baseman Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush) went a combined 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored and senior centerfielder Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica) went 3-for-8 with two runs scored.
The Bombers came out swinging in game one. Peters, who was 2-for-4, led off the game by doubling to right field. Ferguson followed by singling up the middle and reached second on a wild pitch during junior designated hitter Josh Smith's (Pulaski/Richland) at bat. Smith singled to left center to score Peters. Ferguson scored the game's second run when junior leftfielder Shane Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) grounded out to first base. Smith concluded the Bomber's three-run first when he scored on a single to center field by junior second baseman Todd Czerno (Columbia/Brainard).
With the bases loaded in the sixth, Ferguson, who went 3-for-3, singled to left field to score Czerno. Ferguson and Peters lead the team with 12 multi-hit games.
Sophomore Adam Brown (Greece Athena/Rochester) pitched his second-career complete-game shutout by striking out two. He is 5-2 on the year.
In game two, the Bombers rallied to score both their runs in the third inning.

Ferguson was hit by a pitch.

Raux singled up the middle.
Raux registered a team-best two hits.
Three Bomber pitchers made appearances on the mound in the contest. Senior Ryan Mays (Clinton/Clinton) made his fourth start of the year, pitching four innings and striking out three. He was rewarded the win -- his first of the season. Senior Matt Lavoie (Moses Brown/Providence, R.I.) pitched 1.1 innings in relief and struck out one and sophomore Brian Gardner (Fairport/Fairport) pitched 1.2 and struck out three to earn the first save of his career.
The Bombers hit the road Monday to take on Oswego at 4 p.m.
